96 Saturn SL2 with 129k...no reverse
My buddy has a 1996 Saturn SL2 4 door automatic with 129k miles and he has no reverse. All of his forward gears are fine as far as I know because he still drives it to work daily. I'm a new member to the forum and I recieved great help the other day on my Saturn, so I told my buddy that I would post this and try and get him some help. What could the problem be and how can he repair it?

perhaps check the selenoids (should be within 5,000-7,000 ohms IIRC) and/or the pressure switches on the valve body?
failing that, perhaps you need new Input/Output shaft nuts? also you could try PM'ing special forces.. he's the resident Saturn transaxle diagnoser AND he rebuilds the valve bodies very good as well. ... 97 SL2 DOB: 3/19/97 Date Obtained: 5/30/07 Status: Alive & Well 2004 Merc G.Marquis GS DOB: 2/4/04 Date Obtained: 7/6/12 Status: Alive, prolly needs front driver strut

Thats how mine acted when the transmission input nut came loose, no reverse and all forward gears.
