2005 Vue front end noise

so my 2005 vue started making a weird noise about a weel ago. it only has 45,000 miles but every time a go over a bump at LOW speeds only, it makes this weird creeking noise,at higher speeds(45+) it does nothing. so i brought it to my mechanic today he did a total inspection over the whole car, i thought it was suspension related, he found absolutely nothing wrong he said it is mechanically perfect. the only thing he could think of was the car was involved in an accident about 2 years ago he thinks its a body problem.....but i dont get why it just now is making it...it is only o the passenger front side like right around the wheel......

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! you guys are great

Check the front strut mounts. Saturn had problems with them that year. Mine went bad at 35000 miles. If they are bad change the struts with them. My struts were junk at 45,000 miles. See my post.

cpeterson7 ... How did the mechanic try to duplicate the noise?

Several parts can cause the "creaking" noise but my number one candidate is the strut mounts.

If so, you can duplicate by aggressively bouncing the front of the Vue. I put my knee in the fog-light opening and increased the force until I could hear the noise coming from both left and right strut tower.

If you have time and money you can change those parts but I solved my noise - for the short-term at least - by spraying a liberal amount of Prestone silicone spray into the little openings around the strut center mounting bolt.

I had an assistant continue the bounce while I sprayed and the noise soon stopped.

BTW ... I've not had the noise for almost 5,000 miles now.

Here's a cut-n-paste from service manual with description of rear suspension:

The rear suspension system on this vehicle is of the independent link type.

The rear suspension system performs the following functions:


Maintains the relationship of the rear axle to the body.

Controls the torque reaction on acceleration and braking.
The rear coil springs are retained between the spring seat in the lower control arm. Rubber insulators isolate the coil spring at both top and bottom.

The suspension system consists of the following components:

Support Assembly

Coil Springs

Stabilizer Shaft, Insulators and Stabilizer Links

Toe Link

Upper Control Arm

Lower Control Arm

Trailing Arm

Knuckles

Wheel Bearing/Hub

Shock Absorbers

NO, The rear suspension has shocks. I changed mine out at 45000 miles and the stock ones were junk. You could push them in with one finger and they would stay in.

You may also check the wear level of the stabilizer bar links. I had to change mines at around 52000 km (31000 miles).

I agree. When I put new struts on last month the passenger side link was bad. The driver side was still good.

so i did the knee in the fog light thing and sprayed the silicone spray while bouncing it.....still makes the noise, i am having breaks done on friday by a family mechanic hopefully he can tell me whats up.....

good news guys it mast take a few days for the silicone to kick in the vue stopped its noise yesterday!!!!
