Default p0421 - WARM UP CATALYST LOW EFFICIENCY BANK 1

Got this code today. Cleared it, but I'm worried it's going to come back.

I had the "main" catalytic converter under the car replaced last week with one from Magnaflow.

Now, the "Bank 1" (by the firewall) warm-up catalyst is supposedly not doing its job.

Unfortunately, it doesn't appear that this little warmup catalyst is available by itself. It's part of a whole piece that include the rear half of the front pipe AND the catalytic converter I replaced last week.

I can't find anyplace that sells just the warmup catalyst.

No misfires. Well, I had misfires when the converter went totally bad, but none before or since.

My gut feel is that it might have to do with the high-flow replacement catalytic converter.

I don't think there's any kind of exhaust leak or I would hear it.

Anyone got any ideas?

I continued to get this code about once every 7-8 days. I ignored it the first couple of times, thinking it might be a "carryover" from all of the misfires and driveability issues surrounding the catalytic converter failure.

Anyway, I took it back to the shop that did the catalytic converter and asked them to see if they could figure out why I was getting the code and make sure there wasn't any kind of leak.

They tested everything and found that Bank 1 Sensor 2 was sending voltage "all over the map." So, they are replacing the sensor.

Hopefully, this will fix the problem.

Just thought I would throw an update out there in case anyone can use the info in the future.
