P0455 is the infamous EVAP system large pressure loss diagnostic code. A common cause for this code might be a loose or failing gas cap.

I've attached a schematic of the EVAP system, as well as a brief description which was lifted from the Vue service manual.

P0455 Code -

The Evaporative Emission (EVAP) System is used to store fuel vapors to
reduce the amount of unburned fuel from escaping into the atmosphere . The EVAP system consists of the EVAP canister , the fuel tank pressure (FTP) sensor , the EVAP lines and hoses, the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve which is normally closed, the EVAP service port, the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve which is normally open, the fuel tank, and the engine control module (ECM).

The ECM monitors the EVAP system for circuit faults in the FTP sensor , the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve and the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve circuits. The ECM also monitors the EVAP system for small and large leaks. During the DTC P0455 diagnostic, the ECM monitors the FTP sensor for an atmospheric pressure reading when all of the DTC parameters have been met with the engine running. The ECM will then command the EVAP canister vent solenoid valve ON which is a closed valve, and command the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve to a fixed duty cycle.

The ECM will let the pressure drop in the fuel tank for a certain length of time after which it will turn OFF the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. DTC P0455 sets when a certain vacuum in the fuel tank could not be achieved due to a large leak or a lack of vacuum source.

Thanks so much for the information. I checked my gas cap and found nothing out of the ordinary. I have cleared the code and hopefully it does not return but if it does I am afraid I will have to send it to the dealer for diagnostics since it seams quite complicated to find the leak. Do you have any advise/experience for what it could be?

I recently had this code on my 05 Vue. The problem was clearly the gas cap. I could insert and turn, it felt solid, but I found a gentle tug would pull it free from the fill port.

I bought a replacement at a local parts store for $13 USD, its been several months with no problem.

It might be worthwhile to use forum search to see how other Vue owners dealt with the EVAP codes.

Thanks for this...my gas cap is new about 6 months since replacement but I find that the original cap is a bit flaky. Does not have a positive lock on it. Maybe I will replace it should the code return. Thanks again for your responses. Cheers
