Ticking or knocking?
Ticking may be a lifter needs extra lube (add 1/qt new tranny fluid to gas), might be a stretched serpentine belt, or belt tensioner going bad, whereas knocking might be all the above and more importantly, the timing chain slapping against the guides. The engine has been kept up with it's oil, not run really low on oil?
