Re: AC clutch engaging. No cold air

You added refrigerant because your system was not full, correct?
Well, it had leaked out somewhere (maybe even the low side port's o-ring) so whenever the AC was turned on, the low side (remember,...

Re: AC clutch engaging. No cold air

Most likely, you are compressing 1 can of R134a and an equal amount of AIR.
Need to pull a vacuum, prove it stays a vacuum and then recharge while monitoring both the High (gas) side gauge, and the...

Re: Most horrid sound ever!

Thanks, I never have checked an automatic for dif pin position.
Most likely, this SL1 has had the dif pin slide sideways and is hitting inside behind the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). Probably real...

Most horrid sound ever!

Daughter has a 2001 SL1, around 150K, automatic.
Recent stuff (since last Christmas): they put on battery, water pump, 4 new Michelin Defender tires.
Car had an overheat due to water pump leakage,...

Re: The Truth About Fuel Filter and MPG?

Clogged up filters will reduce the flow, never increase flow of any fluid.
Think about it.

Re: Chirping noise under the hood...

Most likely serpentine tensioner, however; just be sure it's not one of the other devices being pulled around by the belt...like AC compressor, water pump, the idler pulley or the alternator....just...

Re: Looking for 2002 SL1 right rear door latch

So, whereabouts do you live? Maybe we can source something out for you?

Re: Finding a decent Saturn is getting harder . It's seems

There's a 2002 SL1 (automatic) a half hour up the pike from you in Cuba, MO.

Re: Input Shaft Nut

Just to clarify, I was responding to odiaz1831's request about an aluminum intake manifold replacement, not the input nut thread :)

Re: Input Shaft Nut

That's a huge block of aluminum to CNC mill down to make just one,let alone cast one.
Pick n pull is your best bet, decent ones are there for the picking.

OR, repair it (watch)...

Here you go.

Re: P0301

Have you run a compression test on that #1 cylinder?
Might also be a bad injector on it.

Re: Keep my SL2 or get a SW2?

I put over 100,000 happy miles on my 98 SW2, plus the extra room it provided was great.
I'd get the low mileage automatic.

Re: What's that noise?

Slight motor boat type sounds?
Presumably the car is running, and in Park?
I am sure we all would appreciate a better recording.

Re: Auto trans not upshifting

My memory is that Dexmerc is Dexron VI not III, and if so, is a lower viscosity and will itself contribute to your Saturn trans slippage.
It could be leaking from the trans drain plug, or a damage...

Re: Auto trans not upshifting

Aside from knowing how many miles are on the car?
I guess I would want to know if you have replaced the missing Dexron III fluid, and how often do you drain the tranny and filter?

When you do...

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

Here's a light blue, 99 SL2 with 136.5K (a Southern car) for $2K ( I would make a much lower offer since the ad says "Getting rid of my Saturn, don't need it").
Sunroof. Dash has white face...

Re: Help! AC TXV to suction line leak during charging

You said you used R12 mineral oil? Why?
From what I know, or thought I knew, only the older (pre R134a) systems used this mineral oil...don't all 'modern' refrigerants use the POE (polyolester) oils...

Re: 1993 sl1 vin9 SOHC front wheel locked not brakes\

Best guess is that something got loose inside the trans.....did you work on the differential (diff) pin, or drop something that has lodged and affects forward movement??

Re: Sport Wagon

^^ If it's got the 2.2L engine like I had with a 2003 LW200, no oil issues at all.
But that engine I had was a dog, and acceleration would be best worded as BOG. Never got it to run consistently,...

Re: Intermittent vacuum leak

Any engine misfire when brake pedal is pressed on? Spongy or a stiff
pedal? Might be the brake booster check valve or the booster itself.

Re: Intermittent vacuum leak

The rubber tubes are all still supple and not dried out or cracked?
If you have a bit of tube slack, i'd cut off a chunk and reattach the tubing anyway.

Have you used Pb blaster on it, or any other rust breaker-upper penetrant oil?
