Re: '95 SC1 runnning issue-Asking for a friend

Add remove and clean the EGR valve. An intermittent poor running issue, especially after the engine has warmed and at lower RPM or at idle is an EGR issue better than 50% the time.

Re: Oil reset NOT working

Speed does not matter. Length of travel does. MUST go all the way from foot off the pedal UP to floorboard down. Most people in their hurry will miss the all the way down part, or all the way up on...

Re: Front wheel bearing replacement OMG !!!

I loan mine out. Trick is to bolt old rotor on backwards. ;) Easier to hammer with nothing in the way. Works on the back too.. though rarely needed.

Re: Cant Read computer on a 2004 Saturn Vue

Fuse is the best place to start, the one on my 2005 blew once for no apparent reason and I never knew until I tried to check for pending codes while doing some maintenance. Also, although memory...

Re: Canister Purge Valve Solenoid

I can think of basically no scenario where a bad CCPS would prevent you from being able to drive the car until the part arrives. You can merely plug the vacuum hose and drive happy ( Service Engine...

Re: Anyone here Use SAFECO Auto Insurance

SAFECO for close to 5 years. No increases. Only claim I ever had was for a windshield on the F150. ( comprehensive ) Was repaired, in my parking lot at work, less than 24 hours later. For zero...

Re: Tune up for a Saturn Vue

Yeah $300 is insane.

Is the Service Engine Soon ( SES ) light on?

If No..

a "tune up" amounts to little more than 4 new spark plugs ( about $20 tops ) maybe an air filter and maybe a new...

Re: What can this be

Hint: Do as I do.. I keep the old rotors when I replaced them. Next time it is "time" I just take the old ones down and have them turned. Then remove / replace with new pads... keeping the...

Re: How much is a Transmission??

It's also not new. Hence the orange silicon squishing out all over.

Re: Heater Core Hoses

I'd be willing to bet it is a blend door issue. The "S" series heater cores always have coolant flowing through them. Discharge HVAC air temp is controlled by the blend door which is opened or...

Re: Here we go again :(

Last time I checked, the 2.2 doesn't have spark plug wires in the conventional sense.

Pull the coil packs off and look for oil seepage in the plug wells. They must be dry. If found.. cam cover...

Re: Metal gasket between wheel hub and Steering knuckle

It's there to ensure the bearing is "square" in the base of the hub when torqued to spec. In short, it allows the precision machined bearing to mount "evenly" ( for lack of a better word ) in the...

Re: Thinking about doing an engine rebuild this summer (pricing?)

I notice no mention of the head.... Bottom end rebuild is pointless with a 274K mile cylinder head bolted on top of it.

I may elect to inhieret a SL2 soon. Figure I can rebuild it ( engine ) for...

Re: SL1 Speedometer Cable Noise?

My first guess would be it is related to the power brake vacuum booster. Mounted to the firewall right on the other side of the driver's position in the car. An aging unit can occasionally groan,...

Re: Overheating @ 7 degrees outside!!

Exactly. I have seen many many cars with radiators full of slush and overheating engines due to weak anti-freeze. Basically, the radiator keeps the slush cool, not allowing it to thaw any further,...

Re: POLL:Would you help a broken down driver?

Do so all the time. I also stop and give rides to people walking on the side of the road but NOT hitch-hiking.

Re: Wheel Bearing Noise Comparison

That old rotor now has 3 Vue wheel bearings to it credit..only the one on mine. Its become a tool I lend out. LOL

Happens to the best of them I guess. 107,000 miles I had to replace the right...

Re: Front wheel bearing or something else like tranny

I will only add that the hub assembly, same brand as sold by Rockauto, is available from Amazon for less than 1/2 that price. Even with expedited shipping... you'd have the part in 48 hours.

AS...

Re: head replacement, do you absolutely have to?

I'll stand beside you on this one, with one caveat:

New Head = New Bolts

Same Head = Same bolts

That's what we practiced at the Saturn Dealer I worked at, and what I have done since with...
