Re: Fixd?

I got a bluetooth OBDII interface for christmas, it is interesting to see a graph that relates engine speed, tps position, and speed in realtime.

Re: P0341 went away after replacing wires and plugs but

My fun with P0341 ended when I put an ICM from a 2nd Gen on my 3rd Gen SL1 engine.

Just something to consider.

Re: SL1 overheating question

I have burped my own SL's several tones, and it wasn't like this. We're talking steady stream of bubbles after the level stabilized. I placed my palm over tbe hole and i could feel pressure...

Re: Elusive high idle issue - 2001 SL1

Ask for a TPS for a 99 SL2. There is a little internal tab that will be in the wrong spot and will prevent the plug from going in. Use a flat ended razor knife to carve out that tab in the TPS....

Re: Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) Diagnosis

When you go to the parts store, go to O'Reilly, and ask for the TPS for a 1999 not a 2002. Get the BWD.

Then, take a flat blade xacto knife and carefully cut out the little tab that is meant to...

Re: Ticking from engine at idle

Recently I had rattle noise coming from the passenger side that was driving me insane, turned out to be the alternator.

Pull your belt off after the engine is warm and start the car and idle it...

Re: Drum to Disc Parts

Not meaning to hijack your thread, but I have an SL2 with rear discs if you want to compare notes on how it goes together. The parts are not for sale, but I am in western WA.

PM me!

DOHC Rebuild

After having done a couple of engine swaps, I am seriously contemplating rebuilding a DOHC that was pulled. Does Mr OldNuc have a list of posts of things to look for? Are there any paper books out...

Re: RPMs in Neutral with TAAT

Monitor this, if the RPMs dont drop to ~800 when stopped and idling in gear you might have a Throttle Position Sensor problem.

If you have an OBDII reader look at the throttle position real-time,...

Re: 02 SC1 Cranks but no start/run

Go to your local Pull-a-Part and get a set of ICM and coils from a 1999 S series. Put in a new set of wires and copper core NGK's. Been there, done that.

Re: Possessed cluster

Sorry to double-post, but how is your alternator output doing? How old is your battery?

Everytime I have seen twitchy gauges it is usually due to an under-voltage or over-voltage.

Re: Junkyard engines

Did not mean a true compression test, meant mainly rolling it over by hand to feel for the compression stroke. A true "compression test" would be a waste of time I agree.

Junkyard engines

I'm considering a trip to the Pick N Pull yard in Tacoma (Lakewood), WA to find an engine for the #5 01 SL2. I looked up the price for a long block and it is almost cheaper to acquire a 'new' engine...

Re: Service Wrench came on with the headlights 01 SL1

That's what I figured, everything still was running fine and still was able to make 75mph on the freeway. Just wanted to be sure, since I recently had to do plugs/wires/ICM/coils.
