Re: Hand Brake Release Repair

The JB Weld did not adhere to the plastic used in this application. I had to fabricate. I used a bicycle chain master link. It's reinstalled in the vehicle and works great. Total cost of repair was...

Re: Hand Brake Release Repair

I'm doing it. I took my L-series apart this evening. A plastic piece broke side. I'll fix it with some JB Weld and post some pictures later. If that doesn't work, all either fabricate something from...

Re: Hand Brake Release Repair

Thanks. That's an S-series. The L-series doesn't work like that.

I took the hand brake assembly out. A plastic piece broke. Imagine that. :) I'll have to drill out some rivots to get to the...

Hand Brake Release Repair

I searched the forum for this problem and didn't find it. My parking brake release button had discharged from the handle (see pic). Anybody have a fix for this before I dig into it or search for a...

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

I have a 30lbs can but I only use it in my BMW, Why? It's a custom built system so there are no factory specs. There's an element of guessing and experimentation tied to it. I'll take a reading from...

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

Got my brother's gauges, which worked correctly. Here are the readings at 80 degrees measured in front of the condenser.

2000RPM: Low = 30 High = 197
Idle: Low = 36 High = 202
Vent temp: 32F...

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

Okay, back to this problem after multiple false starts. Two bad compressors that would not old vacuum. Third compressor is new vs rebuilt and it held vacuum perfectly overnight. With all the shipping...

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

Agree. All this was done at your suggestion (thanks!), which narrowed the symptom to the coil. That got us going again but didn't diagnose the problem. I'll test all of this again. If I have adequate...

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

I don't think my mistake was replacing the clutch, although I'd agree now it is a symptom and no the problem. I did the electrical testing that narrowed it down to a failed coil. To diagnose further...

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

Gap is .016", which is in the middle of the spec. The AC fuse is good.

How would I measure the compressor temp if the coil is bad and the clutch won't engage? Wouldn't I need to repair the coil...

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

Just quit again. Exact same symptoms. I will guess that means the thermal fuse in the coil is overheating and blowing, as designed. That said, what causes the over heating? The compressor going bad?...

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

I got it apart. The Jenson kit is correct. I'm reassembling now. The new coil is installed and I now need the press tool in Pic 6 to press the pulley and bearing back on the shaft. I'll see if I can...

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

Using the VIN, Four Seasons shows it to be a CVC compressor. Four Seasons part 157546. They don't show a clutch/coil kit online. I called them and they confirmed they don't offer one.

Using the...

Where did you find coil kits for this car? GM has them but they are the price of a reman compressor. Did you find and aftermarket kit?

Re: 2002 LW300 A/C Just Quit

Looking for a coil kit. Looks like there were two compressors in this car, CVC and DCV14J. Not sure which I have. Regardless, some of the coil/clutch kits I'm finding are more then a reman...

The pigtail arrived today so I was able...
