Re: PCM P/N Must Match?

You can open up the wiring loom far enough to get ahold of the A &C wires and then using pliers and a block of wood force a straight pin into the wire so uoi know you have a clean contact. Do these 1...

Re: PCM P/N Must Match?

Th trans connector may be cooked to junk as that is where the burned pins are. They probably can be cleaned up though. The trick is to get a clean spot on them so you can actually verify the 12v. You...

Re: PCM P/N Must Match?

THE POWER DOES NOT COME FROM THE PCM. If you have no 12v on any wire then you have a broken wire or more likely the TRS 3/4 fuse is blown in the engine compartment fuse box or the wiring in the fuse...

Re: PCM P/N Must Match?

The fuel pump relay is in the Inside the car fuse box. Jumper carefully between pin 30 and 87 with the key off and then check for 12v to ground in the trans connector. Use a paper clip as you are not...

Re: Driving on Ice

Loading the trunk increases the polar moment of inertia so you spin slower and do not get as dizzy. Has no other benefit on ice though. In winter always clean off the back window as you may have to...

Re: Driving on Ice

This is marginally superior to having the sign/light at the top of the hill.

Re: Driving on Ice

Do not turn wheel if you slide, just hang on and wait until you stop. There is nothing constructive you can do but you can make it much worse. No brake -- ease off gas to keep the speedo from...

Re: Saturn Craigslist Deal of the Day!

That is an SL so a peak under the hood would be advised as there may be no PS and/or A/C.

Re: PCM P/N Must Match?

12V is all from the UHJB and exactly how you measure for the presence of the 12v will determine what you find. There is enough of a ground path through the PCM that IF you are using a high impedance...

Re: 2001 Sc2 - Odometer all Zeros - Won't start

You can only swap one at a time or the security reset FAILS and locks out. A replacement BCM must have the same number of connectors and it is also a good idea to match features.

Re: 99 SL2 wiper motor

If mechanical vibration of the motor results in renewed operation then it is time to dig up a replacement.

Re: PCM P/N Must Match?

With the gen3 PCM there are only 2 different PCM units. Automatic transmission or Manual transmission the engine and/or transmission type is determined in firmware. What all that means you need a 01...

Re: 96 SC2 bringing it back to life (slowly)

Top and trans mounts should be OEM and not aftermarket if you can find them as it will make a huge difference in how it feels.

This is how to get it all adjusted so the car runs smooth.

OEM top...

Re: Addign cruise control to '98 SL2...

If they are on solid then that is usually another issue. The crank relearn is a flashing SES only. Take it back and get the cause of both codes determined. The local parts store will not read the...

Re: Addign cruise control to '98 SL2...

That has to be adjusted as well. The little plastid rod slides through the attachment when the latch is depresed so with the cruise power is OFF there is a a slight bit of slack between the...

Re: Addign cruise control to '98 SL2...

If you bought the module from a JY or online and did not pull it from the car yourself they sold you something that was broke.

Re: Addign cruise control to '98 SL2...

That is the link between the module and the gas pedal. You should have gotten it when you pulled the module. This is how you remove it from the car gas pedal....

Re: 99 SL2 wiper motor

The connector is known to cause problems such as you are seeing. The connector is in a very hostile environment. Have you given it a good cleaning and inspection?

Re: Amsoil Weirdness

That shift selector comes off the trans with 4 bolts and can be bench rebuilt with minimal cost and effort. The results are usually rather impressive as well.

Re: Engine flooding when cold.

Something to check with the 95 model car is detach the vacuum line from the regulator at the throttle body and sniff for gas fumes. A leaking regulator will flood out the engine and prevent starting....

Re: Amsoil Weirdness

If you cleaned the top of the transmission before adding the fluid you may have also caused the problem as about 1/2 of that selector mechanism is sensitive to stray dirt and gravel. The 1-2 shift is...

Re: Amsoil Weirdness

Filling to the full mark cold covers the input shaft and can end up with the seal leaking fluid onto the clutch. Overfilled is over 1/2 way on the crosshatch cold.

Your 1st-2nd sounds like a...

Re: Engine flooding when cold.

The fuel filter for the 97 and OLDER cars is a 30,000 mile part in most cases and some aftermarket filters will not pass adequate fuel. WIX and NAPA parts do reliably function though.

The fact...

Re: PCM P/N Must Match?

The number may or may not be critical, all depends on a rather long list. What is critical is that to even give you a decent answer we have to know exactly the year, engine and in some cases the...

Re: 2001 Sc2 - Odometer all Zeros - Won't start

IF you have spark and fuel, verified by direct observation, then those PCM/BCM functions are working so it should start. The BCM has multiple independent functions one of which is the RKE(remote...
